From the Desk of:
Assistant to the Exec Director Joe Sprague
Boy this Cat is so excited.. Joe just let me know that the week after Thanksgiving we are starting to turn the front half of Kitty Q into the Kitten Wonderland ( A free range kitten adoption area) thanks to the generous sponsorship from one of our wonderful donors in Memory of their cat Diddy. This is going to be a wonderful addition for the Kittens here at HS/SPCA. Its also the talk of the office with me and the other office cats. It just show us that the staff, volunteers and donors are doing everything they can do for ALL the animals here at HS/SPCA and it makes all of us so proud of them all.
The staff and volunteers could not do it without so many wonderful people that like them truly care for all the animals that come to us. So keep your eyes here as I am going to be posting photos of the whole change over and the opening of the Kitten Wonderland.

November Volunteer of the Month – Luanne D.
Our HS/SPCA is extremely blessed to have so many caring volunteers. Taking the time to highlight the dedicated humans that care for our animals is an important part of our culture and this month we are excited to announce our November Volunteer of the Month: Luanne D.
Luanne’s love for animals began when she was young growing up in Lansing, Michigan. The small creatures she would collect and bring home always surprised her mother. Her fondest memories are from the time she spent catching grandma’s chickens with her sisters. They would put their heads under their wings, rock them to sleep and line them up on the porch. In Northern Michigan, Luanne spent hours catching fireflies, raising pollywogs and searching for salamanders. Luanne has been the loving mother of mice, guinea pigs, hamsters, cats and dogs. A lot of Luanne’s time was spent rescuing animals who needed her help. “I cannot pass a turtle on the road without stopping and helping it across,” said Luanne. Read more…

Kennel Upgrade Project
We hold and participate in many local events where we need help and it’s a great way to meet other Animal Lovers.
We also have opportunities to work at the shelter in the office, walking dogs, Catty Shack housekeeping, etc.
In October, we kicked off our Kennel Upgrade project.
We have a great group of staff and volunteers working hard to help improve & add on to our humane society, so that we are able to continue our mission of saving animal lives.
The project will be done in phases. The first phase of relocating the kennels from the back to the front of the property was completed. Phase 2 entails adding a new septic system for the for the new kennel area!
This project was funded in part by money raised by Strut Your Mutt 2018 & other caring donors! READ MORE…
