Kennel Upgrade Project
In October, we kicked off our Kennel Upgrade project.
We have a great group of staff and volunteers working hard to help improve & add on to our humane society, so that we are able to continue our mission of saving animal lives.
The project will be done in phases. The first phase of relocating the kennels from the back to the front of the property was completed. Phase 2 entails adding a new septic system for the for the new kennel area! Phase 3 is pouring the cement pads and installing the new Kennels.
This project was funded in part by money raised by Strut Your Mutt 2018 & other caring donors!
In addition to funding, it takes an enthusiastic and able bodied team to accomplish this feat. Volunteers Ed Conte, Bill Lamberton and Daryl Powell, just to name a few, worked under the leadership of Jeff Roels, our HS/SPCA Facility Manager.
Phase 1 started October 29th and involved relocating 16 existing kennels, installing 5 new kennels, adding cement floors, etc. This phase has been completed.
Phase 2 included the installation of a new septic system and was completed mid-November. The entire project is on track to be completed by the first of the year.
Phase 3 involved the kennel cement pads which was poured the day before Thanksgiving. A 30 day day waiting period is required for the cement to cure than it gets coated and Kennels are installed.
