We could not accomplish what we do for the animals without the help of our many volunteers.

We average about 100 volunteer hours worked per month during September through May. Because many of our volunteers are seasonal and head north for the summer, we only average about 50-75 hours during the months of June, July and August.

Come join our Volunteer Team and make a difference in an animal(s) life! You can work your own schedule. Whether it’s 1 day a week for a couple hours or several days a week. We are grateful for whatever you can contribute.

There are many ways you can help. Pick something you enjoy:

  • Walk Dogs

  • Catty Shack Housekeeping, Work with Cats

  • Become a foster parent

  • Care for our cats at one of the off-site pet stores (see below)

  • Help with maintenance of the HS/SPCA facilities and grounds

  • Help with Events

  • Office/Administrative tasks, data entry

In appreciation for your volunteer commitment, after you’ve achieved (your first) 20 hours of volunteering for HSSPCA/Org events/activities, you can contact Jane Mouradjian, Volunteer Coordinator, to receive a blue HS/SPCA Volunteer T-Shirt.

Volunteer Orientation Sessions

We host a Volunteer Orientation session on the 1st Saturday of each month at the Humane Society. It lasts about 1 1/2 hours and wraps up with a tour of the facilities.

Just complete this online Volunteer Application and submit it. If you’re not 18 years old, you’ll need your parent’s permission to become a volunteer. Give us a few days to follow-up with you to set up your Orientation Session.

Off-Site Locations

We showcase some of our cats and kittens in the following 2 pet stores located in/near The Villages. Both provide accommodations to house our cats during their sometimes multi-week stays. Our Humane Society Volunteers come in, based on their assigned shift, to care/feed/play with the resident cats and answer any questions from potential adopters. These locations have enabled us to greatly increase our feline adoptions and also get the public acquainted with our organization. Additionally, each store has adoption events throughout the year that we also bring our dogs to. If you’re interested in finding out more, contact Jane Mouradjian, Volunteer Coordinator.

Petco, Lady Lake/The Villages, located in the Rolling Acres Plaza at 600 US441

We have been at this location since May, 2016. We cover 3 shifts, AM, noon and afternoon/PM, per day here.

We cover 2 shifts, noon and afternoon/PM, per day here. We are generally here on Saturdays from 11-2:30 to do on-site adoptions.

Community Service Hours

We are a recognized site where people can complete Community Service Hours, whether those are court ordered or young people seeking experience for their resume or College application; or hours needed as a requirement to a scholarship program such as Bright Futures.

Community Service questions can be directed to the Shelter Manager.
